Best Western International (BWI) is continuing is rapid Asian expansion with a move into possibly Asia’s most underdeveloped market - Laos. The Laos move is being facilitated by the appointment of Laos hospitality specialist, Oudet Souvannavong, who will represent and advise BWI in the country. The move market BWI ratcheting-up its efforts in Indochina, following the announcement earlier this week that it will set up a regional Office in Vietnam
“We are very excited to stand on the threshold of opening up Laos as this is a new territory for Best Western,” BWI’s Vice President International Operations – Asia, Glenn de Souza (pictured).
“Growing a portfolio of strategically located hotels all around Laos through the services of Mr Oudet will fit Best Western International’s goal of becoming the largest hotel chain in Asia,” de Souza added.
Oudet is a key player in the Laos hotel industry, holding the positions of Vice President of the Lao Chamber of Commerce, President of Lao Hotel and Restaurant Association, and owner and General Manager of Tai Pan Hotel, Vientiane.
De Souza went on to say that BWI plans to open five hotels in key Laotian destinations. The destinations themselves were not revealed, but are likely to include capital Vientiane and tourist hot spot, Luang Prabang.
