Forest fire kills nine in southern China

A forest fire in southern China’s Yunnan province has killed at least nine people and injured seven others, the China Daily has reported. The victims included three professional firefighters – part of a force of more than 200 sent to tackle the blaze. The local farmer, who reportedly started the fire by burning his crops, has been arrested.
