A British tourist has had a miraculous escape after his bungee cord snapped in Phuket. Cambridge University graduate, Rishi Baveja, was in a 50-metre, 130kph freefall when his bungee rope gave way, sending him smashing into the lagoon below. But miraculously, Baveja lived to tell the tale. Despite spending a month in a Bangkok hospital and losing his spleen, he made a full recovery.
“All the doctors were staggered that I lived,” the Daily Mail reported Baveja as saying. “I’m very lucky. If I had landed head first I would be brain damaged or dead.”
Despite the harrowing incident, the engineering student has not been put off adrenalin sports – he now plans to go skydiving. Brave lad.
