British Airways has warned it expects to make an operating loss of about GBP150 million (US$206 million) in the 2008/2009 financial year, BBC reported.
The airline blamed the global economic downturn and the fall in the value of the pound sterling for the deteriorating outlook.
“Further economic weakness in January and the outlook for February and March, combined with the fall in sterling, are impacting our outlook for the year ended 31 March 2009,” the company was reported saying in a statement to the London stock exchange.
