Iraq Airways has made its first flight to the European Union in nearly 20 years.
The Telegraph reported that Iraq’s national carrier flew from Baghdad to Stockholm, via Athens - its first flight to Europe since an international embargo was imposed in the wake of Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
Flights to a number of Arabic countries, including Iran and Turkey, resumed after the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, and the airline plans to add scheduled services to Germany and India, the report said.
