Holland America Line has announced its expansion plans for 2010, with new itineraries throughout the Southern Hemisphere aboard the 1,432-passenger capacity ms Volendam, and the introduction of a brand new liner, Nieuw Amsterdam.
The new itineraries include, for the first time, a circumnavigation of Australia departing Sydney. This 34-day sailing will visit 18 ports of call, and spend two days cruising the Great Barrier Reef, making Holland America the only premium cruise line to offer daylight cruising along the Reef. In addition, there will be a new series of 14-day Sydney roundtrip cruises throughout the region, including New Zealand.
Also in 2010 Holland America Line will take delivery of its latest Signature Class ship, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, which takes the former name of New York City. The interior is said to “reflect the glamour and history of New York City”.
“The Signature Class marks Holland America Line’s latest series of new-build vessels and with a guest capacity of 2,106 for Nieuw Amsterdam, it reaffirms our commitment to the mid-sized cruise ship market,” said Stein Kruse, President and CEO, Holland America Line.
