Macquarie Airports reports drop in earnings

Sydney Airport owner, Macquarie Airports (MAp), has reported a fall in first quarter earnings after a steep decline in air passengers during the period, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. MAp posted earnings of AU$176.6 million (US$124 million) for the first three months of the year, down 19% from Q1 2008.
The airport investor holds a 73% interest in Sydney Airport as well as stakes in airports in Bristol, Brussels, Copenhagen and Tokyo (Haneda).
