Taiwan is expected to allow visits by individual mainland Chinese tourists from April 2011. The Taipei-based China Times reported that up to 500 solo travellers from Shanghai and Beijing would initially be permitted to travel to the island each day. They will be allowed to stay for a maximum 15 days. Currently Chinese tourists are only allowed to travel to Taiwan in groups.
