Macau arrivals fall 11.9%

Macau’s visitor arrivals for the first seven months of 2009 reached approximately 12 million, a drop of 11.9% from the same period last year, Xinhua report the city’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) as saying. The figures showed that visitors from the Chinese mainland (5.98 million), Hong Kong (3.90 million), Taiwan (734,700) and Malaysia (178,800) saw a year-on-year declines of 17.6%, 2.4%, 6.6% and 30.1% respectively. Visitors from Japan and Thailand however, saw slight increases.
