The pristine natural landscapes and experiences in the Northern Territory are being promoted in a new partnership between Tourism NT and Virgin Blue, with the tagline “Explore uNTouched Territory.”
Over the next four weeks Melbourne commuters at the Southern Cross Station will be inundated with images of the Northern Territory’s pristine landscape and provided an enticing $149 airfare to Darwin.
Tourism NT Chief Executive Maree Tetlow said that, “all advertising spaces in the train station are being used to promote Darwin, including every chair, locker and billboard in the station, to banners hanging from the roof, up the escalators and plastered on the floor.”
“The station is alive with colour and pristine images of our uNTouched Territory.
“Supporting the campaign is advertisements in Melbourne’s mX publication and a week of credits on Melbourne’s Nova radio station,” Ms Tetlow said.
This activity has been schedule to coincide with the Spring Racing Carnival that see around 200,000 commuters each day pass through the station.
“We anticipate over 5,600,000 Melbourne residents and commuters will see the advertising,” Ms Tetlow said.
Victoria continues to be the Northern Territory’s largest source of interstate visitors, representing around 26% of all interstate travellers.
Tourism NT invested $174,000 towards this activity, which has been matched by Virgin Blue’s $90,000 contribution providing a competitive airfare along with cooperative advertising in newspapers, on radio and online.
