Shangri-La Hongqiao Airport and Traders Hongqiao Airport, Shanghai, Dual-Branded Experience open offering 91 and 520 keys respectively

Shangri-La Group (“the Group”) proudly announces the grand opening of Shangri-La Hongqiao Airport and Traders Hongqiao Airport, Shanghai — a dual-branded development located at the heart of the city’s Hongqiao transportation hub. As the Group’s fifth hotel project in Shanghai, this opening reflects its continued expansion in the city through a dual-brand approach, while reinforcing Shanghai’s role as a hub for international exchange. It also marks the global debut of the Group’s refreshed Traders brand — a future-forward concept that combines technology with thoughtful service for today’s business travellers

“We are honoured to mark the upcoming 8th China International Import Expo with the opening of our dual-branded hotel in Hongqiao. Through heartfelt Asian hospitality, we aim to create the 'Finest Service Window' that reflects Shangri-La Group’s long-term commitment to Shanghai’s economic development and to advancing the national strategy of Yangtze River Delta integration," said Chris Tung, Group Chief Marketing Officer and China Chief Executive Officer, Shangri-La Group.

"This dual-branded hotel represents a significant milestone in our journey of innovation. Through our 'luxury + efficiency' dual-engine strategy, we have achieved operational synergy and enhanced the service standards for guest stays at the Hongqiao international hub. At the same time, the refreshed Traders brand, with its focus on technological sophistication and smart efficiency, sets a new benchmark for meeting the evolving needs of today’s business travellers.”

The dual-branded property offers two distinct yet complementary experiences: timeless Shangri-La luxury and smart, tech-enabled stays by Traders — all under one roof. With direct connectivity to Terminal 2 of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, the high-speed rail station, and the city’s metro network, the hotel provides seamless access to downtown Shanghai and key cities across the broader Yangtze River Delta including Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Nanjing, all reachable within an hour.

Shangri-La: A Haven of Calm at the Crossroads of Travel

Shangri-La Hongqiao Airport features 91 elegantly designed rooms and suites, offering panoramic views of aircraft taking off and landing against the backdrop of Shanghai’s urban skyline. Floor-to-ceiling quadruple-glazed windows and open-plan layouts create a quiet, light-filled sanctuary, while Horizon Club privileges, from curated breakfasts to evening turndown service, add a layer of effortless comfort.

At the hotel’s signature restaurant, Shangri-La Jiangnan Wok, heritage meets innovation. Led by Michelin-starred Chef Tiger Yang, with guidance from Area Executive Chinese Chef Joe Hou, the menu reinterprets traditional Jiangnan flavours through nine seasonal flavour profiles. Guests on the go can also enjoy the restaurant’s signature dishes, thoughtfully packed in takeaway bento boxes designed to travel with them on board.

With nearly 3,000 square metres of flexible event space next to the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shangri-La Hongqiao Airport is set to become a preferred venue for weddings, conferences, and exhibitions. Wedding packages, complete with curated banquet menus, promise unforgettable celebrations, made even more special by Shangri-La’s signature Asian hospitality.

Traders: Where Efficiency Meet Enjoyment

Traders Hongqiao Airport reintroduces the brand with a bold new identity — one that pairs intuitive technology with a joyful guest experience. Express check-in/out system allows guests to complete the process in as little as 15 seconds, linking directly to Shangri-La Circle profiles and delivering room number information to their mobile phones. Departure is equally seamless with contactless check-out and instant e-invoicing.

Smart technology enhances every moment at Traders Hongqiao Airport. Luggage delivery robots, equipped with image recognition and LiDAR, deliver bags directly to guest rooms, while barista-style coffee robots serve pour-over brews and latte art on demand, adding a delightful pause to a busy travel day. Meeting spaces can be reserved instantly through Shangri-La’s online platform, streamlining the entire planning journey from quote to confirmation.

The hotel features 520 thoughtfully designed rooms, with select rooms offering sweeping vistas of aircraft in motion or the city’s expressways. Guests enjoy curated comforts, such as a seven-choice pillow menu and all-day portable meals. Surprise touches like flight delay care packs and red-eye flight comfort sets are designed with the real rhythms of travel in mind, turning long layovers into moments of ease.

Breaking away from traditional hotel all-day dining, 77 Food Restaurant is a vibrant food hall concept featuring beloved brands from across the region. Highlights include signature French croissants from Michelin-starred LE JARDIN de Joël Robuchon, Lanxi-style breakfast at “Youbu Xiaoguan,” and Taiwanese-style braised pork rice from “Adelu.” Designed for convenience and discovery, it offers a dynamic culinary experience where regional flavours meet global travellers.
