As the year-end holiday season approaches, Agoda has unveiled the most affordable domestic and international flight routes for Indian travellers. Based on bookings from September 2025 for departures between 20–31 December, the digital travel platform identified Guwahati–Agartala as India's cheapest domestic route at $15 (INR 1,300). For international travel, Ahmedabad–Bangkok emerged as the most economical option, with fares starting at $75 (INR 6,500).
The Christmas and New Year period is one of the busiest travel times, with many taking advantage of school breaks and extended holidays to travel. Agoda's data highlights the importance of finding cost-effective routes during this peak season. The Guwahati–Agartala route ranks third in Asia for affordability, following Thailand’s Udon Thani–Bangkok and South Korea’s Jeju–Seoul.
For international travellers, Malaysia and Indonesia offer the cheapest routes in Asia, such as Johor Bahru–Phuket and Pontianak–Kuching, both at $25 (INR 2,200). Thailand's Krabi to Kuala Lumpur route is also a budget-friendly option at $30 (INR 2,500). Other affordable international routes include South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam, with India’s Ahmedabad–Bangkok route rounding out the list.
Gaurav Malik, Country Director for the Indian Subcontinent and Indian Ocean Islands at Agoda, noted, “Christmas and New Year are among the busiest travel periods for Indian holidaymakers, and finding value during this time can make all the difference.”
Agoda offers over 130,000 flight routes and more than 6 million holiday properties, ensuring travellers can plan their festive getaways conveniently.
