Birmingham Airport spreads festive cheer at children’s hospital

Birmingham Airport staff, alongside partner organisations, have brought festive joy to young patients at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity by wrapping over 1,000 gifts as part of the charity's Christmas Appeal. This initiative is part of the airport's ongoing corporate partnership with the hospital, which has seen significant fundraising efforts throughout the year.

The gifts were distributed at a festive pop-up grotto, where airport colleagues dressed as Father Christmas and his elves to create a magical experience for the children. Earlier in the month, staff also participated in the charity’s Jolly Jumper Day, donning festive attire to raise additional funds.

This charitable activity follows a successful year-long partnership between Birmingham Airport and the hospital, which has raised thousands of pounds through various events. Notably, a charity dinner in October raised over $77,000 (£63,000), and a Runway Fun Run event last month added another $22,000 (£18,000) to the total.

Tom Denton, Head of Sustainability at Birmingham Airport, expressed his delight in supporting the Christmas Appeal, stating, “It’s been great to see our colleagues come together to support such an incredible cause.” Katie Harris, Corporate Partnerships Manager at the hospital charity, praised the airport team for their efforts, saying, “We can’t thank BHX enough for their continued support.”

Located in Birmingham city centre, the hospital is a leading UK specialist paediatric centre, providing expert care to over 100,000 children annually. The partnership with Birmingham Airport has been instrumental in enhancing the festive experience for young patients and their families.
