Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as India's most visited state in 2025, according to the Ministry of Tourism. The state welcomed over 137 crore domestic tourists and 3.66 lakh foreign visitors, largely due to extensive renovations of religious and cultural sites and improved infrastructure.
The Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj was a significant draw, attracting over 66 crore devotees. Other key destinations, such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Mathura Vrindavan, have also seen increased footfall. The state's tourism success is attributed to the development of modern infrastructure and regular cultural events like Deepotsav and Rangotsav, which have become major attractions.
Uttar Pradesh's tourism department initiated projects worth ₹1,283.33 crore, focusing on beautification and connectivity improvements. Notable projects include the development of tourist facilities along the Ram Van Gaman Marg and restoration work at various historical sites.
The state's tourism policy has encouraged investment, with proposals worth ₹37,688.58 crore received. Internationally, Uttar Pradesh promoted its tourism offerings at events like the Zurich Travel Mart and ITB Asia.
Youth empowerment is also a focus, with the CM Tourism Fellowship Programme providing training opportunities. The department has implemented initiatives like the Youth Travel Mart to assist tourists and promote cultural preservation.
Through these efforts, Uttar Pradesh is not only boosting its economy but also preserving its rich cultural heritage, solidifying its status as a global tourism hub.
