Emirates SkyCargo unveils 2026 expansion plans

Emirates SkyCargo has announced an ambitious roadmap for 2026, following a year of significant investments in fleet and network enhancements. The cargo division of Emirates, the world's largest international airline, plans to expand its fleet with up to 10 new Boeing 777Fs by December 2026, aiming to operate at least 21 freighters. This expansion is set to increase cargo capacity and flexibility across its global network.

The airline has already begun receiving new aircraft, retiring older models to maintain one of the youngest fleets in the industry. In 2025, Emirates SkyCargo launched freighter services to eight new destinations, including Copenhagen, Narita, and Bangkok, bringing its reach to 42 global destinations across six continents.

Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, stated, “2026 is set to be a pivotal year for our fleet expansion, with the expected delivery of up to 10 Boeing 777Fs by December, fuelling our next era of growth.”

In addition to fleet expansion, Emirates SkyCargo is enhancing its digital capabilities. By December 2025, nearly 80% of shipments were booked digitally, driven by platforms like eSkyCargo. The airline also adopted PayCargo’s solution for instant payments, moving away from traditional cash transactions.

Emirates SkyCargo is also focusing on sustainability, with plans to introduce hydrogen-powered lorries by Q1 2026. The airline is exploring next-generation cargo solutions, including VTOL aircraft for first and last mile delivery.

Looking ahead, Emirates SkyCargo aims to double its current capacity, add 20 new freighter destinations, and continue setting benchmarks in global logistics with smart, digital-first products and services.
