Among the business events that Singapore hosted in July are the 27th International Epilepsy Congress, Herbalife Asia Pacific Extravaganza 2007, World Glaucoma Congress 2007, 18th Wonca World Conference on Family Medicine (WONCA), 2nd Conference of the Asian Society for Pigment Cell Research, Asia Pacific Congress of Bronchology and the 41st Singapore- Malaysia Congress of Medicine, Singapore Pharmacy Congress 2007, and the Third Asia Autoimmunity Forum (AAF) 2007.
Together, these events attracted close to 25,000 foreign visitors, contributing at least S$40 million to Singapore’s total Tourism Receipts.
“The high concentration of business events in the month of July reaffirms Singapore’s position as a premier destination for high-level intellectual exchange and networking opportunities among medical and biomedical scientific communities,” said Aloysius Arlando, Assistant Chief Executive, Business Travel and MICE Group, Singapore Tourism Board.
The Herbalife Asia Pacific Extravaganza was also the largest corporate meeting that Singapore has ever hosted with close to 16,000 Herbalife delegates. Singapore has a long-standing relationship with Herbalife. In 2003, Singapore was the host country for Herbalife Asia Pacific Extravaganza 2003 which drew 13,000 top distributors in Asia for four days of meeting and training sessions. In 2005, Herbalife’s World Team School was held here and 5,000 of Herbalife’s top distributors attended the event.
