Abercrombie & Kent Expands Nordic Presence with Strategic Acquisition of Borealis DMC

Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) announces the acquisition of Copenhagen based Borealis DMC, expanding its position as the world's largest network of luxury Destination Management Companies (DMCs) with an international network of more than 3,000 staff, in over 65 offices and 40 countries.

Borealis DMC, a longstanding partner with expertise across the Nordic wilderness and cultural landscape, operates from Copenhagen with coverage throughout Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. This partnership strengthens A&K's access to the region's most sought-after experiences - from Northern Lights viewing to midnight sun encounters - whilst embracing the Nordic approach where luxury means authentic simplicity.

"The Nordic region provides access to experiences that epitomise adventure and luxury in their purest forms," said Rebecca Osman, Chief Destination Officer at AKTG. "This acquisition aligns perfectly with our commitment to unlocking impossible possibilities for both our discerning travellers and our trade partners. The Nordic region has become a guest favourite amongst luxury travellers seeking authentic wilderness experiences."

The Nordic region has emerged as a destination of choice for discerning travellers seeking authentic wilderness immersion. Borealis DMC's deep-rooted connections with indigenous communities and unmatched access to remote locations complement A&K's philosophy of revealing destinations through local expertise and cultural authenticity.

Marcella Infantino, Founder of Borealis DMC added "We've partnered with A&K for several years, and this acquisition feels like a natural evolution. A&K understands what makes the Nordic region special - our relationships with local communities and commitment to authentic wilderness experiences. We're excited to join a global family that's leading the way in luxury travel."

Building on Global Momentum

This acquisition accelerates A&K's strategic expansion with the recent openings of DMCs in Mexico and Indonesia and continued investment across its A&K Sanctuary portfolio. The collection of luxury camps and riverboats has become a cornerstone of A&K's offering, with transformative properties now open or launching across three continents.

Gorilla Forest Lodge in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest stands rebuilt as the only luxury accommodation within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Botswana's Okavango Delta, Baines' Lodge undergoes complete transformation, reimagining six suites for the discerning traveller. Meanwhile, Pure Amazon navigates Peru's Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, establishing A&K Sanctuary's presence in South America through intimate riverboat exploration.

A&K's global DMC network provides comprehensive ground services to tour operators, cruise lines, meeting planners, and travel advisors through exclusively business-to-business partnerships. Local expertise combined with 24-hour support ensures seamless execution from the moment guests arrive until their final departure.

Through Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP), the company's commitment extends beyond extraordinary experiences to meaningful community impact. New initiatives across the Nordic region will support local conservation efforts and cultural preservation programmes, ensuring future generations can experience these remarkable landscapes.
