ABTA visits Brussels

This week a delegation led by Mark Tanzer, ABTA visited Brussels to highlight differences in safety legislation in relation to holiday accommodation in Europe, specifically around fire, gas and public health.
Following on from the Expert Group roundtables held in Westminster the delegation visited key representatives of the current and upcoming presidency, the European Commission and Parliament before facilitating a roundtable event at the European Parliament which was hosted by MEP Linda McAvan.
The key findings of the Expert reports were presented by ABTA/FTO jointly with Thomas Cook and TUI Travel. The purpose being to raise awareness of the inconsistent standards across Europe to protect the health and safety of tourists and call for action to remedy this situation.
