Abu Dhabi will press ahead with a US$22 billion project to build a green energy city, Gulf News reported. The world’s first carbon-neutral, zero-waste city – Masdar City - is due to be completed by 2016, with developers seeking to benefit from the current economic slowdown.
“Because of the global crisis there are no opportunities or fewer ones for green companies in other parts of the world and Masdar City is becoming attractive as it is one of the few markets not impacted,” said Khalid Awad, Director of Property Development, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company.
