“China’s potential is enormous and with the country now identified by the WTO as likely to be world’s largest outbound producer in total travel spend by 2015, it is a market we cannot afford to ignore,” said Mubarak Al Muhairi, Director General of ADTA.
The emirate is also considering Italy and Australia for representative offices. It already has offices in the UK, Germany and France.
ADTA said the offices are integral to its five-year strategic plan to deliver 2.7 million hotel guests annually to the emirate by the end of 2012.
The ADTA is heading to trade shows in Hong Kong and Shanghai this month.
“These two exhibitions will assist us in reaching an increasingly affluent outbound market,” said Ali Ahmed A; Hosani, Director of Promotions, ADTA.
