Himachal Pradesh is looking to the stars as it plans to develop high end tourism across the state, and with the help and support of leading actress Preity Zinta India’s celebrities and elite businessmen may soon be flocking to the region. Ms Zinta agreed to act as brand ambassador for Himachal Pradesh tourism to encourage tourism and investment. Much investment will be needed in the next couple of years if tourism infrastructure in the region is to be brought up to a standard that meets the demands of the high-end luxury traveller. According to UNI, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has invited bids from international hotel chains to build five- and seven-star properties in remote locations in order to make the most of the area’s natural beauty. As part of the plan a Heli-taxi service has already been approved to serve wealthy guests and the decadent resorts. The state partnership with Ms Zinta is expected to help raise the profile of the state both at home and abroad.
