Agoda ranks Koh Chang as Thailand’s top emerging destination

The digital travel platform's annual report highlights the island's appeal due to its accessibility from Bangkok and its diverse natural attractions

Koh Chang has been named Thailand's top emerging destination, rising from 17th to 12th place in Agoda's New Horizons ranking for 2025.

The digital travel platform's annual report highlights the island's appeal due to its accessibility from Bangkok and its diverse natural attractions, including rainforests, waterfalls, and coral reefs.

Akaporn Rodkong, Country Director, Thailand at Agoda, noted that travellers are increasingly seeking destinations that offer authenticity and meaningful experiences.

Beyond Koh Chang, other Thai destinations are also gaining popularity: Nonthaburi, located just north of Bangkok, has climbed ten spots to become a preferred domestic destination.

Known for its cultural heritage and historic temples, Nonthaburi offers attractions such as Koh Kret, where visitors can explore traditional pottery making and local markets.

Where are Thai travellers heading this year?

Internationally, Thai travellers are showing increased interest in Beijing, which has moved up eight places in the rankings.

The Chinese capital is celebrated for its rich history and iconic sites like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall.

Agoda's report also identifies Sapa in Vietnam as Asia's top emerging destination, followed by Okayama and Matsuyama in Japan, and Bandung in Indonesia.

The platform offers deals on over 6 million holiday properties and 130,000 flight routes, making it easier for travellers to explore these rising destinations.
