Air Canada plans to start daily flights to India by the end of this year, The Telegraphy reported.Recent expansions in the Indian aviation sector, including acquisition of aircraft by various domestic and international players, may have triggered Air Canada’s move, the report said.”The aviation sector in India is growing manifold; it is the right time to come into the country and start operations here. Our main focus will be business travellers to and from Canada. If all goes well, we will start our operations by the end of this year,” it quoted a senior official at Air Canada’s office in Delhi. It said Air Canada was now working on the various aspects of its Indian operations. The carrier does not have enough planes to operate daily flights to Delhi, the first destination of the airline once it starts its operations in the country.According to Air Canada, most of its fleet is used to cater to China. The report added that demand may not be consistent throughout the year to make the Toronto-Delhi and Toronto-Mumbai routes commercially viable.Air India too provides frequent services.
