The future of Air Fiji may now rest with the government of Tuvalu, after the China National Aero-Technology Import and Export (CACTIC) decided against injecting any more funds into the company. According to a Fiji Times report, Tuvalu is reluctant to invest the US$2-3 million needed, but needs Air Fiji as it supplies one of only two air links to the country.
“It seems the responsibility of reviving the airline now rests with Tuvalu,” Tuvalu’s Transport Minister, Taukelina Finakaso, was quoted saying.
