France’s aviation accident investigation office has said it will take at least 18 months to reach conclusions about the cause of the Air France crash into the Atlantic Ocean on 1 June. According to a Bloomberg report, Paul-Louis Arslanian, head of the Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA), told a press briefing in Paris yesterday that it would use sonar or robots to search for the plane’s black boxes. He added that it was unlikely that speed-sensor failure caused the crash.
