Air Mauritius has commenced a new direct service to Beijing.
The Indian Ocean island’s national carrier launched its first flight to the Chinese capital on Saturday 6 July 2013, and will now operate the route once a week.
Flights will depart Mauritius every Saturday at 1340, arriving at Beijing’s Capital International Airport at 0545 the next day. The return flight will leave Beijing at 0045 every Monday, getting back into Mauritius at 0845 the same day.
Flights will be operated using a 290-seat Airbus A340 aircraft with 24 flat-bed seats in business class and 266 seats in economy.
“The Chinese market has delivered on its promise,” said Andre Viljoen, CEO of Air Mauritius. “The growth rate has been around 70% for the first five months of the year. With this flight to Beijing… we are not only opening a gateway for further development of trade and travel, but also for the strengthening of political and social between our two countries.”
Beijing will become Air Mauritius’ third destination in China, following Hong Kong and Shanghai.
