Air Mauritius will commence its first ever flights to mainland China in July 2011. Shanghai will become the Indian Ocean island carrier’s 25th destination and its fourth in East Asia, following Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. The move is intended to boost tourism to the island nation from mainland China.
“This flight is a first step in our development in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies,” explained Andr? Viljoen, the airline’s acting CEO.
Air Mauritius will serve Shanghai’s Pudong airport with twice weekly flights via KL, using either an Airbus A330 or A340 aircraft.
