AirAsia has announced a brand new route connecting Kuala Lumpur directly to the UNESCO Heritage city of Luang Prabang in Laos with four times weekly flights commencing 21 November 2016.
AirAsia is the first and only airline to operate direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Luang Prabang. This will be the airline group’s 70th intra-Asean route connecting all ten Asean countries, as well as the airline’s fourth route into Laos after Kuala Lumpur – Vientiane, Bangkok – Vientiane and Bangkok – Luang Prabang.
Spencer Lee, AirAsia’s head of commercial said: “This route has been something that we have worked very hard on, and we are pleased to finally make this announcement. We hope our guests will not miss the opportunity to grab the Free Seats to Luang Prabang and experience what this unique destination has to offer.
“AirAsia is proud to offer another international connection within the Asean region to connect the people and close the borders to create a true ASEAN Community. We look forward to launching many more intra-Asean routes in near future to facilitate greater growth of the region’s tourism sector as well as the economy.”
A UNESCO World Heritage city, Luang Prabang is located approximately 300km north of Vientiane at the confluence of the Mekong River and the Nam Khan River. Visitors can see the ‘Tree of Life’ mosaic set at Wat Xieng Thong, partake in the traditional alms giving with the locals, swim in the azure pool at the Kuang Si Waterfalls and savour Khao Soi – a local noodle soup dish that can be found at food stalls running along Luang Prabang streets.
