All Nippon Airways (ANA) has applied to Japan’s Legal Affairs Bureau to establish its Japanese joint venture with AirAsia. The newly-established joint venture company, AirAsia Japan Co Ltd, aims to commence operations from Tokyo’s Narita airport in August next year. ANA – Japan’s largest airline by passenger numbers – will initially inject JPY10 million (US$130,200) into the new airline, potentially rising to JPY5 billion. It will hold a 51% stake in the new company.
