The Airbus Corporate Foundation has helped deliver 36 tonnes of dried food to famine-blighted areas of eastern Africa, in a relief effort organised jointly with the Red Cross and Red Crescent. On 27 July, a flight crew left Toulouse aboard an Airbus A340 and collected the supplies from Bergen, Norway. The mission came just two days after the UN appealed to private companies for help. The food was delivered to Nairobi, Kenya the following day, and will be transported by road to the worst-affected areas of Kenya and neighboring Somalia.
