Hundreds of penguins have been returned to their native territory in the South Atlantic Ocean after being found near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the BBC has reported. The penguins usually head north in their annual quest for food, but the distance travelled this year - over 3,000km in some cases - has left authorities amazed. Some are even being reported in the far north of the country.
While hundreds of penguins were flown this week in a Hercules plane down to the southern tip of Brazil, where they are being released into the ocean, others that were exhausted by their long journey are being allowed to stay in their tropical climes until they recover.
