A grandmother, widowed during a trip to Hong Kong, has been charged for 4kg of excess baggage as she tried to carry her late-husband’s personal effects back home. The South China Morning Post reported that Air France staff at Hong Kong airport insisted Christine Daley had to pay for the extra weight, despite having earlier cleared it with the airline.
“My mum was very upset,” Mrs Daly’s son told the newspaper. “When she opened the bag, my father’s things were at the top of the case so she had to take them out at the desk.”
A spokesman for the airline said it had a clear policy on baggage limits and staff had only been following those rules.
