Airline unions threaten another strike

This week, 10 associations and unions of national carrier Air India (AI) and erstwhile Indian Airline (IA) had written to the civil aviation minister asking him for an appointment within a week to sort out their issues. According to Daily News and Analysis, they had said that if the ministry did not respond to their request, they would be forced to go on a nationwide protest. “We have asked the honourable aviation minister to meet us within a week for a dialogue over various issues including salary payment and turnaround plan for the airline,” a member of the AI Cabin Crew Association (AICCA) was quoted saying. “We haven’t decided on the course of protest yet but it can be anything right from wearing black bands or even strike.”This is for the first time that 33,000 employees of both the merged airlines
