Airport Show 2014 ready to take off

The 14th edition of Airport Show will kick-off today for three-days at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (DICEC). The event has garnered positive response from exhibitors, exhibition space, hosted buyers and delegates.
In the Middle East region, estimated US$100 billion investments are planned for airports expansion and new developments, including US$40 billion in the GCC. According to IATA, the Middle East is expected to have the third fastest growth rate at 6.6% until 2016, making it the second-fastest growing aviation market.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of DCAA, chairman of Dubai Airports and chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group said: “The event mirrors the aviation industry’s robust growth and region’s economic resilience. Airports in the MENA region are projected to cater for 400 million passengers by 2020. Billions are being invested to provide additional airport capacity required to accommodate anticipated demand.”
This year’s show reported an increase of nine per cent. The number of exhibitors has surged 11% to reach the 250 mark. The number of country representation include 39 countries including eight new entrants – Estonia, India, Libya, Luxemburg, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Thailand.
