Algarve Tourism launches first virtual agent FAM trip

The Algarve Tourism Bureau has launched its first virtual agent FAM trip so that agents can learn about the destination through dynamic imagery and video content giving them an immersive online experience.

The bureau recognises the importance of training the travel trade about destination and partner content and familiarisation trips are key to increasing product knowledge. The FAM trip is divided by days, areas of the Algarve, periods of the day and includes travelling times between places. Agents can learn and update their knowledge on places to visit including hidden gems, resorts and hotels, restaurants and gastronomy, activities from diving, hiking, cycling and food tours and beaches, hiking and cycling trails, ancient neighbourhoods and beautiful views.

Hugo Nascimento, executive director of Algarve Tourism Bureau said: “This enables agents to explore and improve their destination knowledge for a wider range of places and products which they can promote to their customers, driving increased sales and commission earnings. It’s also a great opportunity for agents to learn about lesser-known places like Eastern Algarve outside of the regular places such as the impressive Algarve beaches.”
