Alitalia finances probed

Alitalia’s finances are to be investigated following a consumer group’s complaint that the Italian national carrier has cost the country’s taxpayers EUR5 billion (US$7.5 billion) over the past 10 years, ChannelNews Asia has reported. The group has cited loans and public funds made available to Alitalia, as well as remuneration packages for Alitalia’s previous chairmen.
