Airbus delivered 139 commercial aircraft in the second quarter of 2011, beating the 118 deliveries registered by its main rival, Boeing. Single-aisle planes continued to dominate demand. Of the total 257 Airbus and Boeing deliveries, 79% (203 aircraft) were narrow-body planes such as the B737 or A320. Airbus delivered six double-decker A380s during this period; two to Air France and one each to Qantas, Lufthansa, Korean Air and Singapore Airlines. Year-to-date, Airbus has delivered 258 commercial aircraft, compared to Boeing’s 222.
