2) Asiana Travel Mate has recently opened its seventh sales office in Vietnam. What do you believe is the secret behind your company’s expansion?
If there is any secret, I believe it is the outstanding service that we offer to our customers. We deliver what we promise. Also thank to the company’s motto “Responsible Travel and Sharing”. When you are doing things for good purpose, people are more incline to support you.
3) Vietnam suffered a slowdown in tourism arrivals in 2008. Have you noticed any negative effects on your business?
Since it is a global slowdown, we are no exception. There is a slight decrease in sales volume but we are still doing quite well, above overall expectation.
4) Where do you see the future of the Vietnam tourism industry lying, and what needs to be done to help the sector develop further?
Even though the tourism industry is hardly hit by global crisis, I still have strong belief in Vietnam’s potential. We have the advantages of novelty, stunning landscapes and rich culture; hence, Vietnam has a high chance to remain one of the hot spots in the next few years, at least until the novelty dies off.
However, in order to develop the sector further more, to become one of the top industries in the region, we surely have a lot more to do and it is not a one-man job. It needs a macro touch from the government, for instance, international and professional promotions about Vietnam’s tourism, trainings for human resource, and a thorough plan to develop the industry as a whole.
5) What are we likely to see from Asiana Travel Mate in 2009?
More responsibility and more sharing! By that, we mean in 2009 we will have more tour programmes and activities that make positive impacts on the environment and society. About tour programs, we are researching to put in more responsible activity options for tourists like teaching English, taking care the elders and disables, cooking for orphans and homeless people, to name a few. In addition to that, we also plan to cooperate with our partners to hold more charity events and outings, letting everyone join us.
You will also see a Greener ATM. We are trying to use eco-friendly and recycled products for most of our needs.
