AllIndia Resort Development Association (AIRDA) chairman and principal advisor B SRathore told the Times of India, hoteliers are constructing new properties inTier Icities that experience large arrivals of business travellers, while only a fewhotels were being built in smaller cities that are beginning to become newsources of tourism in the country.
But companies such as Accor, views itdifferently. According to Accor Hotels Headof Development (India, Bangladesh, Nepal,Sri Lanka) Uttam Dave “leisure tourism at current levels in India made no businesssense for a company to set up properties in Tier II towns. Leisure occupancy inIndiais just 2-5% whereas internationally it is 45%” as he was quoted by the Timesof India.
