Singapore, 11 June 2010 - The Asia Cruise Association (ACA) launches its first cruise training today 11 June 2010 at the 24th International Travel Expo in Hong Kong. The training session focuses on the cruise industry developments in Asia, cruise product range and the know-how of selling cruise products, which attracted more than 90 travel agents from Hong Kong keen to learn how to tap into the lucrative market of selling cruise products.
Over the one day training session, Hong Kong Tourism Board will also present to the participants an insight on Hong Kong’s cruise industry developments. In addition, regional cruise experts from ACA members Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruises, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Silversea Cruises and Star Cruises are coming together to share on their product range as well as the marketing and selling techniques of cruise packages.
Propelled by cruising’s great potential with its growing popularity in Asia and major cruise lines deploying more ships to the region in the recent years, ACA’s training session also aims to promote to travel agents the attractiveness and lucrativeness of this market and that it is opportune to start adding cruise packages to their travel product range.
ACA Chairman Rama Rebbapragada said, “Cruise training is a cornerstone activity of
ACA as we aim to enhance cruise product knowledge among the distribution network.
It is important that travel agents understand the various cruise products and learn how they can market cruise packages effectively. With this training, travel partners can in turn help to widen the cruise marketing outreach. Our Association has already lined up a series of training programmes across Asia for the rest of the year.”
Anthony Lau, Executive Director of Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) said “The HKTB
is pleased to take part in ACA’s first training session. Cruise industry is at its rapid growth stage. With more major cruise lines developing itineraries in Asia and deploying cruise ships with higher passenger capacity, it is a strong signal that cruising has strong market potential. We hope all our trade partners attending this training session will be inspired by the insight of regional cruise experts, which enables them to tap into the lucrative cruise market.
Following this training session in Hong Kong, ACA will be conducting its next training at Seatrade All Asia Cruise Convention 2010, which will be held from June 24 to June 25 2010 at Suzhou, China.
