The Asia Pacific Tourism Forecasts 2007-2009 report released by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) this week indicated Thailand would receive the largest share of almost US$13 billion.
Results from the recent Asia Travel Intentions Survey 2007 conducted by PATA and Visa of over 5,000 participants showed 52% of travellers were considering Asia as their next travel destination. One in five of these travellers selected Thailand as their preferred destination, hence the predicted bonus for the country.
It also appears Thailand will attract a number of holidaying Swedes, with 84% indicating it a likely destination over the next two years. Following Thailand’s growth over the forecast period is Malaysia expected to receive almost US$11 billion, Korea with US$7 billion and Macau with US$5 billion.
