Asia practically swept the survey’s top honours, winningfour – Seoul, Singapore,Hong Kong, and Nagoya, Japan – of the first five spots inthe ranking, Business Week reported. Nova Scotia’sHalifax was theonly non-Asian airport in the top five.
The results were culledfrom a survey of more than 200,000 passengers at 126 airports from around theworld. They were asked aboutpassenger experience from a list of more than 30 service-quality factors, including courtesy, cleanliness and overall ambience.
The report dwelled into whyAsian airports fared better, saying it all boils down to difference inperceptions.
“Asians have a differentphilosophy for airports,” Kim Hyo Joon, an independent aviation consultant andex-CEO of Incheon International Airport Corp., was quoted saying. “Our focus is to makeairports convenient, attractive, and pleasant, even at fairly high costs.”
Airports Council CommunicationDirector, Nancy Gautier, was quoted saying; “There seems to be both a businessand cultural commitment to hospitality that underpins their customer service.”
