Assam is making efforts to promote tea tourism. The strategy was announced earlier this week by Pradyut Bordoloi, the state’s Minister of Commerce & Industry, at the Tocklai Centenary Celebrations’ conference, organised by the Tea Research Association. Bordoloi said that Assam has over 20 airstrips and about 25 golf courses, which could be used to boost the state’s tea tourism sector. Several ‘tea bungalows’, dating back to the colonial era, will be used to provide accommodation for tea tourists.
