Atlas Ocean Voyages and Cruise Traveller team up for a new Antarctic tour package

Bypass the Drake Passage and fly to the Antarctic for an amazing polar voyage

Atlas Ocean Voyages and Cruise Traveller have jointly released the new Drake Express package for those in the mood to explore Antarctica.

The Drake Express itinerary enables travellers to bypass the Drake Passage and fly to the Antarctic with the least amount of stress and hassle.

While the Drake Passage between South America and Antarctica was once the only way to get to the great white continent, this new offer from Australian small ship cruise specialist Cruise Traveller and Atlas Ocean Voyages, enables travellers to skip Drake at the start and end of their expedition.

This makes the trip significantly more comfortable and allows explorers to make the most of their time on the ice.

Antarctica from a new direction

Cruise Traveller’s new, all-inclusive ‘Drake Express’ packages see travellers fly south from Chile to King George Island in the South Shetland Islands, just 120km from the Antarctic continent.

There, guests will board one of Atlas Ocean Voyages’ polar-class expedition ships for the short but unforgettable journey to the Antarctic Peninsula where they can enjoy pristine beauty including electric blue icebergs and mighty glaciers, and also rich wildlife including whales, seals and penguins.

Guests then sail back to King George Island and fly over the Drake Passage back to Chile.

The new fly/cruise packages are just nine nights long, including pre and post cruise stays in Chile, making them an excellent option for travellers short on time.

Guided by experts

Atlas Ocean Voyages takes spirited and discerning  explorers on journeys to the bottom of the Earth aboard luxury, boutique yachts which offer authentic, all-inclusive adventures in Antarctica.

Atlas’ ships are purpose-built for remote expeditions, with a hydro-jet propulsion system that allows virtually silent cruising.

Plus, each expedition to Antarctica is led by a team of up to 17 wilderness guides, naturalists, mountaineers, biologists and conservationists whose expertise and leadership deepen the rich encounters guests experience on the continent.
