07 Sep 09 (TravMedia.com): Central Coast Tourism’s new marketing campaign Come to the Coast, valued at around $500,000, has rolled out across Sydney and regional NSW with the first print advertisements of the campaign placed in major metropolitan media yesterday. The campaign hopes to attract more visitors to the region by selling the proximity and diversity of the Central Coast.
“Come to the Coast will spread the word far and wide about the unique experiences that the Central Coast has to offer, from tree top adventures to soaring high above golden beaches in a microlight,” said Central Coast Tourism’s Chairman Barton Lawler.
“We want to surprise people by demonstrating the many different experiences available in the region, whether they’re looking for family fun, an adventurous short break or just some time out to explore and relax - that’s what the Come to the Coast campaign is all about.”
The campaign was launched by the Hon. Jodi McKay MP, Minister for Tourism and Minister for the Hunter at Mantra Kooindah Waters Golf and Spa Resort this morning.
The Minister unveiled the campaign’s website as well as the first round of full page advertisements that have been placed in high readership publications such as The Sunday Telegraph, the Sun-Herald and Good Weekend Magazine.
The campaign will also include radio and online advertising, which will take advantage of the popularity of Google and Facebook to the campaign’s target markets.
Come to the Coast has been made possible through Central Coast Tourism’s successful application to the NSW Government’s new Regional Tourism Partnership Funding Program and through industry contribution.
“Tourism NSW is working in partnership with Central Coast Tourism and regional tourism organisations to ensure we promote campaigns that encourage people to visit our regions,” said Ms McKay.
“The close proximity of the Central Coast to Sydney and other parts of regional New South Wales makes it an ideal destination for a short getaway.”
“Last year the Central Coast region attracted more than 4 million visitors, injecting almost $740 million into the local economy,” she added.
“When Tourism NSW announced the funding was available, we saw an opportunity for the Central Coast to benefit and the Come to the Coast campaign was born,” said Barton.
“We’ve listened to our members and looked at tourism research before identifying our target markets and developing the Come to the Coast campaign,” he added.
“It is the result of a thorough consultation process and support from our local operators that has paid off with a relevant, cutting-edge campaign that positions the Central Coast as a unique and exciting destination.”
