This year’s Australian winter has rewritten the record books. According to report in The Australian, Dr Blair Trewin from the Australia’s National Climate Centre said eastern Australia had been particularly affected. Melbourne’s rainfall for the first eight months of the year is the lowest on record, while Queensland recorded its driest July and August on record. New South Wales’ rainfall was below average for winter. Dr Trewin added that the record temperature for August was broken six times in the month.
