The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has begun legal action against Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) cargo unit, alleging it acted in a cartel with other carriers and fixed prices, Bloomberg reported. SIA is the third airline to be subject to action by the ACCC for fuel surcharge price fixing, with Qantas and British Airways having incurred penalties of AU$20 million (US$14 million) and AU$5 million respectively earlier this month.
SIA Cargo has said it will defend itself against the allegations, but declined to give any further comment, the report added.
