The Chinese version of Australia.com has been updated with 56 new itineraries operated by specialist travel agents based in 15 cities around China.
The featured itineraries are designed to help Chinese travellers plan trips to Australia and get in touch with an ‘Aussie Specialist’ agent in their region. The itineraries, which cover destinations around Australia, meet various interests and needs including six independent-tours and more than 15 theme-tours such as golf or self-drive.
The Aussie Specialist programme was designed to provide travel agents and distributors with the knowledge and skills to sell Australia more effectively. The programme has already been launched in parts of Asia, the UK and US. China is next in line, a market regarded by Tourism Australia as “critical to achieving the Australian Tourism Industry Potential”. The body estimates that overnight spend by Chinese visitors will grow from an existing AU$3 billion (US$3.1 billion) to AU$9 billion in total expenditure by 2020.
