Australian air fares hit record lows

December is historically the most expensivemonth to travel, but according to the latest figures from the Australia’s Bureauof Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics, both discounted andfull-economy air fares are showing sharp drops.
Carriers such as Jetstar and Virgin Blue have launched sales,with hugely discounted fares in an effort to boost domestic travel during theeconomic slowdown.
“We are urging Australians to take a holiday within Australia totake advantage of these affordable airfares and support the Australian tourismindustry,” Tourism and Transport Forum Executive Director, Olivia Wirth, wasquoted saying.
