The merger of Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa will have “no immediate effect” on Middle East routes, Gulf News reported an airline spokesperson as saying. In an interview with the newspaper, Pia Stradiot was reported saying that “the network will not change much”, and that Austrian is continuing its marketing strategy in Dubai. Austrian Airlines’ Middle Eastern destinations currently include Dubai, Amman, Riyadh, Jeddah, Damascus, Tehran, Cairo and Erbil.
